China's apparel shipments to Germany were valued at $1,630.829 million from January to May 2023. This represents a 22.61 per cent decrease compared to the $2,107.303 million exported during the same period last year, according to the latest trade data from Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
Germany ranks as the eighth-largest market for China's apparel exports, accounting for 2.68 per cent of China's total apparel exports of $56.354 billion during the period of January-May 2023.
Interestingly, China's exports to Germany remained unaffected last year despite the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The entire European continent was impacted by the war, given its significant role and geographical closeness to the affected regions, as per TexPro.
In contrast to this year's decline, exports to Germany had risen by 6.17 per cent in 2022, totalling $6.026 billion from $5.678 billion in 2021. This made Germany the fifth-largest market for China's total apparel exports of $163.171 billion in 2022. Previously, exports to Germany were valued at $4.981 billion in 2020 and $5.356 billion in 2019.
