Both countries are aiming to elevate their bilateral economic and trade relations to new heights. They have recently announced the elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership in Beijing.
Although the shipment to Uruguay constituted just 0.12 per cent of China's total apparel exports of $110.634 billion during January-September 2023, the trade has experienced a rise of 1.52 per cent from $135.599 million during the corresponding period of last year, according to trade data obtained from Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
In 2022, China shipped apparel worth $182.720 million to the country, which was 21.61 per cent higher than the shipment of $150.254 million in 2021. Previously, the trade was recorded at $124.775 million in 2020 and $166.067 million in 2019.
The shipment of home textiles to Uruguay during January-September 2023 was recorded at $23.396 million, which is 0.99 per cent higher than the exports of $23.167 million in the same period of the previous year. In 2022, China's home textile exports to Uruguay totalled $31.432 million, as per TexPro.
