The country's imports of woven apparel from China were valued at $2.134 billion during January-September 2023, representing 22.94 per cent of its total imports. This inbound shipment declined by 14.06 per cent from $2.483 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
Imports from Bangladesh amounted to $1.202 billion during the period, accounting for 12.92 per cent. This figure eased by 5.35 per cent from $1.270 billion in January-September 2022. French woven apparel imports from Italy were valued at $1,077.522 million (11.58 per cent), from Turkiye at $556.647 million (5.98 per cent), and from India at $546.075 million (5.87 per cent) during the period.
As per TexPro, In 2022, France had imported woven apparel worth $12.486 billion, which was 8.35 per cent higher than the inbound shipment of $11.443 billion in 2021. China's share was 26.78 per cent as the import from the country was valued at $3.323 billion during 2022. The import from Bangladesh amounted to $1.696 billion, representing 13.59 per cent of the total import during 2022. Among the top five suppliers, the import from Italy was $1,182.582 million (9.47 per cent), from Turkiye $724.051 million (5.80 per cent), and from Vietnam $712.859 million (5.72 per cent). India was the seventh-largest supplier with a share of 5.06 per cent of the total in 2022.
