Germany's apparel imports fall 14.1% YoY to €27.8 bn in Jan-Sep 2023

Germany imported apparel worth €27.8 billion between January and September this year—a decline of 14.1 per cent year on year (YoY), according to the country’s official statistics agency Destatis.

More than half (53.3 per cent) of such imports were from three countries: China, Bangladesh abd Turkiye.

China was the top supplier, with a 21.2 per cent share (€5.9 billion) in the country’s total apparel imports, followed by Bangladesh, which had a 20.3 per cent share (€5.6 billion). Turkey’s share was 11.8 per cent (€3.3 billion).

Germany’s apparel imports from China declined by 20.7 per cent YoY, from Bangladesh by 16.9 per cent YoY and from Turkey by 10.6 per cent YoY during the period.
