According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, the UK's apparel imports from Italy dipped from $491.002 million in the first half of 2023. However, Italy’s share in the market edged up from 4.94 per cent during the same period. The country remained the fifth-largest apparel supplier for UK imports, with total apparel imports amounting to $9.932 billion in this period.
In 2023, the UK's total apparel imports reached $20.272 billion, with imports from Italy amounting to $1,065.776 million, representing 5.26 per cent of the total.
According to TexPro, jerseys topped the list of the UK's apparel imports from Italy during the first half of the current year. Jersey imports were valued at $74.394 million, accounting for 17.49 per cent of the UK's total apparel imports from Italy during this period. Dress imports stood at $68.350 million, while trousers and shorts amounted to $61.339 million. The shares of these two products were 16.06 per cent and 14.42 per cent, respectively.
Among the top ten apparel products imported by the UK from Italy, the inbound shipment of shirts was valued at $45.043 million (10.59 per cent), jackets and blazers at $43.251 million (10.17 per cent), T-shirts at $24.045 million (5.65 per cent), accessories at $21.823 million (5.13 per cent), socks at $20.870 million (4.91 per cent), skirts at $14.554 million (3.42 per cent), and suits at $10.727 million (2.52 per cent).
