In the previous year, Japan's apparel imports from Turkiye reached $121.197 million, which was 0.49 per cent of Japan's total apparel imports of $24.953 billion, as reported by Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
The year-on-year import figures represent an 8.81 per cent decrease from 2021's shipment value of $132.902 million. The trade value was earlier reported at $119.073 million in 2020 and $120.669 million in 2019.
Trade data indicates that trousers and shorts were the most imported apparel items from Turkiye, constituting 25.63 per cent of Japan's total apparel imports in the first eight months of 2023. Other significant products included jerseys (22.22 per cent), T-shirts (18.86 per cent), shirts (12.26 per cent), and dresses (5.45 per cent).
Regarding material composition, cotton apparel imports from Turkiye accounted for 71.57 per cent, man-made apparel for 19.95 per cent, wool/animal hair for 4.46 per cent, other materials for 4 per cent, and silk for 0.02 per cent of Japan's total apparel imports from January to August 2023, according to TexPro.
