Panama's imports of Chinese silk garments rise

Panama imported 12.98 million pieces (sets) of silk garments from China during the initial seven months of 2011, registering an increase of over 10 times year-on-year.

The value of imports stood at US$ 3.07 million, which was also an increase of more than 10 times year-on-year.

Average price of an imported silk garment worked out to US$ 0.24 per piece (set), which is a substantial 98.46 percent dip year-on-year.

Volume-wise, Panama's imports accounted for 6.59 percent of total silk garment exports from China, while value-wise they just contributed 0.44 percent to the total Chinese earnings from silk garment exports.
