Apparel exports from India fell a marginal two percent from a year earlier in December 2011 after posting a gain of 24 percent in November.

Following a fall in demand from two major markets – US & EU, December garment exports touched US $1.14 billion.

These two markets account for 65 percent of clothing exports, said the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC).

In the first nine months of fiscal 2011-12 beginning from April, apparel exports reached $9.7 billion up 25 percent from $7.7 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal.
