Though Chinese garments have flooded the world market after the elimination of quota restrictions, Indian markets have witnessed a heavy rush of readymade garments from Nepal, even more than China.

With dwarfish domestic textile industry of Nepal, which has very few registered exporters, Nepal topped the list of garment exporters to India during the first five months of current FY.

The exports amount to 18.52 percent of readymade garments, including woven and knit, according to the latest data.

These figures surpassed China's market share of 17.53 percent during the first five months of current FY.

It is surprising that Nepalese exporter could manage to overtake China to enter Indian markets.
