Asia still tops in Chinese garments exports

Shares and value of various continents on the globe in China’s garment exports basket witnessed mixed results in the first quarter of 2012.

While on one hand exports to Asia, North America, Latin America and Africa rose, those to the European Union fell.

Asia was still the largest continent of China's clothing exports, accounting for 39.75 percent of China’s total exports and which also increased 10.34 percent year on year.

Europe which is the second largest destination with a share of 26.92 percent saw clothing exports falling 10.31 percent over the same period last year.

North America in the third position, with a share of 19.08 percent of China’s total apparel exports; witnessed shipments growing by 7.54 percent year on year.

China’s exports to Latin America and other emerging markets continued to grow by 9.24 percent year on year, accounted for a share of 6.66 percent.

China’s exports to Africa rapidly rose 20.14 percent year on year.
