Garment export value is likely to cross US $3.5 billion mark with expansion beating previous year's figures, commented Thienchai Mahasir, President of Thai Garment Industry's Association.

Last year, local textile and garment sector registered earnings of more than 130 billion and it continues to enjoy growth, said Mahasir.

Garment industry is expected to have a remarkable change when Thailand reaches FTA deals especially with the US and Japan.

As the US purchased the largest share of Thai garments, the garment export to the US reflects more than 52 percent of total exports.

Mahasir also announced that association would organize a trade fair of ready-to-wear clothes during February 15 – 19, 2006 giving a platform to manufacturers, distributors and buyers to meet and hold business negotiations.
