There is a proposal from the Russian Ministry for Economic Development to prohibit buying of textile and clothing items for Government agencies from foreign producers.

The proposal envisages a ban on the purchase of apparels, including knitwear, innerwear and accessories, from other countries.

It further seeks a ban on the use of all kinds of imported raw materials, such as fabrics and sewing threads, for stitching apparels for Government agencies.

The Ministry has put forward the proposal as a measure to revive the country’s textile and light industry.
