Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) would be sending a delegation to Europe for exploring and strengthening business relationship with European countries.

The Peruvian team would visit Europe between 23 and 30 September, 2013, and will include representatives from agro-export sectors, textiles and clothing companies.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Carlos Posada, explained that the delegation would visit Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Poland, Mincetur said in a statement.

These countries have been identified as potentially attractive markets for Peruvian exports due to their high purchasing power, good economic conditions and increasing levels of demand.

Mr. Posada indicated that they are currently supplying Peruvian products to these markets through distributors located in other European countries, which reduces the competitiveness of Peruvian exports.

Supplying directly to these markets would increase profit margins for Peruvian exporters, and consolidate the position of Peruvian products in those markets, he added.

The Minister said that the delegation would be the first of many to be held as a prelude to access major markets.

The aim of the visit would be to deepen trade and promote the image of Peru as a trustworthy and reliable partner.

Representatives from Agency for the Promotion of Private Investment (ProInversion), the Commission for the Promotion of Peru Export and Tourism (PromPeru), and Foreign Ministry, as well as Peruvian companies that are interested in introducing their products to these markets would form a part of the delegation.
