Turkish apparel exports touch $1.6bn in May'14: TIM

Clothing exports from Turkey totaled US$ 1.6 billion during the month of May 2014, registering a growth of 23.07 percent, compared to the same month in 2013, as per the data released by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).

According to the May 2014 Export Data of TIM, Turkey exported apparel worth $1.6 billion during May, compared to the $1.3 billion worth of exports made during the same month last year.

Garment exports from Turkey accounted for 12.1 percent of the overall exports made by the country during the month of May 2014.

During April 2014, the country exported apparel worth $1.54 billion registering a rise of 17.7 percent, compared to the same month last year. Apparel exports from Turkey during the month of April accounted for 11.8 percent of the overall exports made from the country during the month.

In 2013, Turkey exported apparel worth US$ 17.3 billion, indicating an increase of 8.3 percent compared to 2012, as per the data from the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters Association (ITKIB).
