Ministry of Textile (MOT) reported that in Q1 2006, Vietnam's textile and garment industry imported elastic band worth US $7.3 million, representing year–on-year rise of 51.6 percent.
Taiwan became the top supplier of this product, accounting for 44.7 percent of entire imports turnover.
Importing prices by Taiwanese suppliers stood at around $0.27-0.3 per piece, recording slight slump in comparison with same period 2005.
According to MOT sources, imports revenue of textile and garment materials during this period registered sharp growth in all product categories, presenting promising trend of ever rising production in the coming times.
