Garment exports turnover to US up

Textile and garment exports turnover to US has increased by 30 percent during January–May, 2006, according to Vietnam Textile & Garment Association (Vitas).

Textile products in general, and childrens wear and some 'hot categories' in particular, have witnessed increase.

Price of children's wears in US market during late May reached $4.24/piece, recorded a rise of more than $1.3/piece.

Among quota-controlled categories, some products have recorded high growth in price compared to the same period in 2005; category No.333 (M&B suit-type coats doz 30.30) and category No.434 (M&B coats doz 45.10) have gained 42 and 33 percent price growth respectively.

Other 25 categories have also registered growth in price from 10 to 15 percent.
