According to China's customs statistics, in January to April 2007, Guangdong textile and garment exports surpassed Zhejiang, becoming the first among exporting provinces in China.
Textile and garment exports of Guangdong Province amounted to US $10.331 billion, a year-on-year growth of 25.79 percent, of which, textile exports marked $2.507 billion, an increase of 11.44 percent. Garment exports read $7.824 billion, a rise of 31.20 percent.
In January to April 2007, Guangdong Province exported 18.76 million sets of knitted sportswear, a growth of 178.26 percent over the same period last year, worth of $122 million, a rise of 481.27 percent in amount. The average export price was $6.51 per set, a surge of 109.32 percent over the same time last year.
In January to April 2007, Guangdong Province exported 116 million pairs of knitted men's trousers, up 54.98 percent over the same period last year, worth of $459 million, augmenting 219.03 percent in amount. The average export price was 3.96 per pair, expanding 106.25 percent over the same time last year.
In January to April 2007, Guangdong Province exported 22.93 million sets of knitted men's leisure-suit, a swelling of 81.79 percent over the same period last year, worth of $110 million, improving 209.72 percent in amount. The average export price was $4.81 per set, and up 70.57 percent over the same time last year.
