The General Customs Office recently reported that textile and apparel industry reaped US $9 million from exports of sports wear in August, showing a rise of 10.7 percent from previous month and 116 percent from same period last year.
For the first eight months, the figures touched $65.6 million, demonstrating a year–on–year growth of 49.5 percent.
EU remained the biggest consumer of sports wear. The country earned a total of $35.8 million with a rise of 29 percent against the eight months period of 2006.
Besides EU, exports to the US and Canada witnessed strong development at 22 percent and 127 percent respectively.
Export price of the sports wear in August was around $6.47 per piece FOB on average depicting a plunge of 24 percent from previous month but a surge of 12 percent can be seen against same period 2006.
