Statistics revealed by the General Department of Customs show that in August this year, the textile and apparel industry enjoyed two percent rise on export prices of shirt, which was quoted at US $5.28 per piece FOB.
During this month, the shirt's price at US, Germany and Japan witnessed increase, quoted at $4.76 each piece up nearly two percent, $7.56 boost of five percent and $7.25 growth of eight percent respectively.
From January to August this year, Vietnam fetched $298.7 million by exporting 59.4 million pieces of shirts, which demonstrated a growth of one and six percent, respectively.
For August alone, the country exported 8 million pieces worth $42.5 million, showing a year–on–year surge of 21 percent in volume and 20 percent in value.
However, in the first eight months, the average price was $5.02 per piece, represented a drop of five percent in comparison with same period 2006.
