According to National Footwear Association of Portugal, the country imported shoes from China worth nearly Euro 27 million, in 2007, showing an increase of 37.9 percent, when compared to 2006. This has made China the second largest footwear supplier to the nation.

Among the suppliers, Spain has acquired the first place exporting shoes valued more than Euro 128 million, accounting to almost 40 percent of total market share of Portugal.

Holland remained at third position in the list of shoe suppliers to Portugal. However, a drop of 15 percent can be observed as the export amount reached only Euro 26 million, in 2007.

Till September 2007, Portugal's total import of footwear reached Euro 291 million, witnessing a boost of 12.5 percent, in comparison to same period last year.

The nation also saw a slight rise of 2.2 percent in shoe export, fetching foreign currency of almost Euro 956 million.
