According to a highly placed trade union leader, 90 percent of the clothing manufactured in Kyrgyzstan is exported to overseas markets.

According to Ryskul Babayeva, chairman of textile and light industry trade union, most of these achievements have been undertaken without help from the government.

Most of the employees in the clothing sector are women and youth and the sector generates employment for around 158,000 people in the country.

She lamented the fact that there was a shortage of skilled labour in the country and nor was there any training school to impart skills to the people of the country.
