Leap in Thai clothing exports to Germany

Latest figures indicate that Thailand's clothing exports increased 9.1 percent in the first quarter of 2011.

Apparel shipments were able to garner US $ 805.7 million with US being the biggest importer at $290 million, followed by Japan with $71.06 million.

Japanese imports rose 13.6 percent year-on-year.

However despite recording a low value, garment exports to Germany shot up by 29.75 percent to touch $46.62 million and was the biggest market among EU countries.

Shipments to the UK fell 16.53% to $39.59 million.
