Turkish apparel exports up 7.4% in Jan-July 2018

Apparel exports from Turkey increased by 7.4 per cent in the first seven months of 2018, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. From January to July 2018, Turkey exported apparel worth $9.058 billion, compared to exports of $8.433 billion clocked during the first seven months of 2017, the data showed.

Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $5.261 billion during the seven-month period, registering an increase of 6.1 per cent over exports of $4.958 billion during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $3.797 billion, up 9.3 per cent from $3.475 billion exports made in the same period of 2017.

Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS chapter 57) were up 9.5 per cent to $1.280 billion during the period under review. (RKS)
