Turkish apparel exports up 7.46% in H1 2018

Apparel exports from Turkey increased by 7.46 per cent in the first half (H1) of 2018, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. From January to June 2018, Turkey exported apparel worth $7.675 billion, compared to exports of $7.142 billion clocked during the first six months of the previous year, the data showed.
 
Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $4.449 billion during the six-month period, registering an increase of 6.2 per cent over exports of $4.190 billion during the corresponding period of the previous year.
 
Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $3.225 billion, up 9.3 per cent from $2.951 billion exports made in the same period of 2017.
 
Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS chapter 57) were up 8.2 per cent to $1.096 billion during the period under review. (RKS)
