The average price of garment exports from Turkiye to Africa increased to $2.41 per unit in the first seven months of 2023, up from $2.09 per unit in 2022. While the average price dipped in 2022 compared to 2021, when it was $2.13 per unit, both the total value and quantity of exports also decreased last year. In 2021, Turkiye exported 312.950 million units of garments, with the trade valued at $667.186 million, as per data obtained from Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
In 2020, Turkiye exported 249.491 million units of garments at an average price of $1.98 per unit, with the total value of the trade amounting to $494.952 million. This was a decrease compared to 2019, when the country exported 291.317 million units at an average price of $2.14 per unit, and the total value of the trade was $624.625 million.
As per TexPro, African countries have contributed 4.01 per cent to Turkiye's total apparel exports during the first seven months of 2023. Turkiye exported total apparel worth $9.914 billion in this period. Africa ranked as the fifth largest region for Turkiye's apparel exports, trailing behind Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and North America.
