Turkiye's apparel exports slip 3.38% YoY in January-July 2023

Exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) amounted to $5.968 billion during January-July 2023, marking a 5.7 per cent decrease from $6.328 billion in the corresponding period the previous year. Conversely, non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) totalled $4.978 billion, indicating a 0.4 per cent drop compared to $5 billion in January-July 2022. 

In July 2023, the most recent month for which data is available, Turkiye's total exports of both knitted and non-knitted clothing and accessories decreased by 3.75 per cent to $1.459 billion, compared with $1.516 billion in July 2022. Exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories fell by 5.7 per cent, totalling $837.4 million in July 2023, against $888.868 million in the same period the previous year. Shipments of non-knitted apparel and accessories also declined by 0.4 per cent, dropping from $628.852 million in July 2022 to $622.131 million in July 2023. 

In 2022, Turkiye's apparel exports increased by 6.46 per cent to $19.475 billion, compared to $18.294 billion in 2021.
