According to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro, Turkiye’s total apparel exports for the first eight months of the current year amounted to $10.990 billion, compared to $10.791 billion in the same period of the previous year.
In 2023, Turkiye’s apparel exports to Germany reached $3,011.768 million, representing 18.93 per cent of its total apparel exports of $15.908 billion for the year. This figure had been $3,427.884 million in 2022, $3,081.924 million in 2021, $2,692.915 million in 2020, and $2,778.936 million in 2019.
Trousers and shorts were the most significant contributors to Turkiye’s apparel export portfolio. Between January and August 2024, Turkiye exported trousers and shorts valued at $415.199 million, accounting for 21.91 per cent of its total apparel exports during this period, according to TexPro.
Among the top five categories, T-shirt exports stood at $398.141 million (21.01 per cent), jersey exports at $301.017 million (15.89 per cent), shirt exports at $174.060 million (9.19 per cent), and socks at $164.767 million (8.70 per cent).
In 2023, trousers and shorts exports totalled $668.842 million, making up 22.56 per cent of total exports. Other major items included jerseys at $518.001 million (17.47 per cent), T-shirts at $492.466 million (16.61 per cent), shirts at $278.481 million (9.39 per cent), and socks at $244.044 million (8.23 per cent).
