In August 2024, the United Kingdom’s clothing exports totalled £263 million (~$343.8 million), reflecting a 21.4 per cent decline compared to £335 million in the same month the previous year. However, there was a month-on-month increase from the July 2024 figure of £259 million, according to the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS).

In contrast, the UK's textile fabric exports in August 2024 rose by 8.85 per cent to £209 million, compared to £192 million in August 2023. Despite this year-on-year growth, there was a month-on-month decrease from July 2024’s figure of £222 million. The UK’s fibre exports in August 2024 amounted to £43 million, down from £54 million in August 2023 and £68 million in July 2024.

During the second quarter of 2024, clothing exports totalled £837 million, compared to £897 million in Q2 2023 and £832 million in Q1 2024. Exports of textile fabrics and fibres in the same quarter were recorded at £712 million and £172 million, respectively.

In 2023, total clothing exports fell to £3.772 billion ($4.88 billion) from £3.931 billion in 2022 and £4.263 billion in 2021. Exports of textile fabrics and fibres in 2023 stood at £2.737 billion and £667 million, respectively, compared to £2.716 billion and £616 million in 2022.
