According to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro, the country imported women’s apparel of $38.586 million in the first eight months of the current year, which was 30.75 per cent of the total imports. The inbound shipment of men’s garment was noted at $34.735 million, which was 27.68 per cent of the total. The country also imported baby apparel of $10.359 million, which was 8.26 per cent on its total apparel imports from Cambodia.
During the last year, Australia’s imports of unisex garments were noted at $51.931 million which was 36.22 per cent of the total garment imports of $143.359 million. It had imported garments of men of value $41.499 million (28.95 per cent), women $37.906 million (26.44 per cent) and kids $12.021 million (8.39 per cent) in 2023.
Australia’s apparel imports from Cambodia increased by 27.55 per cent in January-August 2024 over imports of $98.419 million in the corresponding period of the last year. The inbound trade was noted at $112.846 million in 2021, and $135.036 million in 2022.During January-August 2024, the country’s imports of cotton apparel were valued at $68.222 million, which was 54.37 per cent of the total apparel imports. The imports of man-made apparel were $45.185 million (36.01 per cent) and others $10.914 million ((8.70 per cent), as per TexPro.
The imports of trousers & shorts were noted at $29.807 million in the first eight months of the current year. It was 23.75 per cent of the total apparel imports. The imports of jerseys were $20.840 million (16.61 per cent), T-shirts $12.007 million (9.57 per cent), innerwear $10.612 million (8.46 per cent) and baby wear $10.359 million (8.26 per cent). These are top five garment products imported by the country during the period.
