Vietnam exported 449.167 million units of clothing last year to EU-27 at an average price of $9.12 per unit. In 2021, shipments were valued at $2.872 billion, with 344.044 million units sent to EU-27 at an average price of $8.35 per unit, according to trade data from Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
The significant increase in the per-unit price of garments after 2021 reflected the impact of the unprecedented rise in raw material costs and the general inflationary effect. The average price of exported garments rose by 9.22 per cent in 2022 over 2021 and increased slightly in 2023, despite a global economic slowdown.
As per TexPro, Previously, Vietnam's apparel exports to the EU-27 were recorded at $2.585 billion in 2020 and $2.983 billion in 2019. In 2020, the country shipped 327.994 million units at an average price of $7.88 per unit. In contrast, 410.739 million units were shipped at an average price of $7.26 per unit in 2019.
