Vietnam's apparel exports to Chile experienced a 50.5 per cent growth, reaching $33.536 million in the first five months of 2022, compared to the same period in 2021. However, the value dropped to $26.455 million in the first five months of the current year. Notably, growth was registered after COVID-19 in 2020. The exports had previously fallen to $22.283 million from January to May 2021, down from $24.395 million in the same period in 2020. Before this, the exports were recorded at $27.285 million from January to May 2019, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
On an annual basis, exports were marked at $88.186 million in 2022, which represented 0.24 per cent of the total exports. Vietnam's total apparel exports reached $37.473 billion last year, a staggering 69.78 per cent increase from the $51.942 million in 2021.
Vietnam was the third-largest supplier for Chilean apparel imports, contributing 3.87 per cent during the first five months of this year, with total imports recorded at $684.434 million. Last year, Vietnam supplied 2.92 per cent of Chile's total apparel imports, which were worth $3,021.233 million. The shipments from Vietnam were valued at $88.186 million in the same period. China was the top supplier with a 73.72 per cent share, while Bangladesh was the second-largest supplier with a 7.84 per cent market share, as per TexPro.
