Dhaka starts disbursing Tk 8 cr as incentives to boost jute production

Bangladesh recently started disbursing Tk 8 crore as incentives to farmers to boost jute cultivation across the country. Four lakh farmers would get seeds under the programme, the agriculture ministry said. A farmer will get a kg of jute seeds free for tilling a bigha (14,400 sq ft) of land. The disbursement will soon start at the field level.

The incentives are being provided from the agriculture rehabilitation support sector under the regular budget of the agriculture ministry, a Bangla news agency reported.
