Nepal begins process to reopen Biratnagar Jute Mills

The Government of Nepal has initiated a process to re-start the Biratnagar Jute Mills that was shutdown around three years ago.

The Government will lease the jute mill to the private sector in order to make it operational, Anil Jha, Minister for Industry, said.

The Minister gave the assurance during his meeting with the representatives of the Jute Mills Operation Struggle Committee.

The Minister said the Government is not in a position to operate the mill through the public sector and hence, it has decided to resume operations at the mill by giving it on lease to the private sector.

He added that the process for the same has started and necessary steps are being taken to make the jute mill operational.
