Union Textile Minister, Shankarsinh Vaghela announced that the central Government plans to restart two of the six jute production plans of National Jute Manufacturers Corp Ltd (NJMC), once the Appellate Authority of Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (AAIFR) grants permission.
Government will begin operations at the NJMC in collaboration with the Khardah factory after it is revamped with advanced machinery.
Current prices of jute benefit the jute producers and the government does not want to intervene.
Vaghela assured of full support to the jute sector workers and also informed that the government had sanctioned Rs900 crore for their voluntary retirement scheme (VRS).
Vaghela also reported that the garment and textile exports had risen by 25 percent in the US and 20 percent in the Europe.
