Golden fibre of Bangladesh beckons the sub-continental textile players like Pakistan, India and Korea to invest in jute sector.

Giving a speech in parliament, Shajahan Siraj, Minister of Jute and Textile stated that seven state-owned jute mills were set to make profit.

He said the sale of jute contributed Tk28.5 million (2.85 crore) to the national coffers in the fiscal 2004-05.

From the total revenue, sale of jute in local markets fetched Tk13.9 million while Tk14.6 million came from exports.

To further enhance production, Government has planned for balancing, modernizing and replacing machinery and equipment, said Siraj.

In accordance with this plan, Government has taken initiative to start two units with the machinery and equipment stripped from the now defunct Adamjee Jute Mills.
