Jute industry plays vital role in economic development of West Bengal and to give a boost to the jute industry, State Forest Minister Ananta Roy discussed the need of jute park in Cooch Behar with Managing Director of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) Debashis Som and General Secretary of Cooch Behar District Merchants' Chamber of Commerce (CDMCC), Rajendra Kumar Baid.
Roy sought cooperation from Managing Director of WBIDC for seamless operation of mill's management. There are only two jute mills in Cooch Behar at Chakchaka Industrial Growth Centre.
One of those two mills is Kamakshi Jute Industries Limited (KJIL) which is going to expand shortly. KJIL will employ around 2,000 people in first phase and another 3,000 by completion of second phase.
By setting up this park, jute growers of Cooch Behar and surrounding areas will be benefited, informed Baid.
