Jute may yield crop in plenty

In spite of many problems jute industry is facing, the farmers of Rangpur and Dinajpur areas are very optimistic about a good crop this year.

With the expectations of getting a reasonable price of their crop, farmers have already started reaping.

60,000 hectares of land were covered in jute cultivation activity this year in the eight districts of Rangpur and Dinajpur area with the production target of 2.2 million maunds of jute, 12 percent higher than the last year, informed Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Rangpur office.

Since farmers have been able to cultivate reasonable prices of their products, the crop area of jute has seen a consistent increase.
