A technical centre has been initiated by West Bengal Consultancy Organisation (WBCO) and the department of scientific and industrial research for small and medium enterprises (SME) producing jute and jute related products.
AK Mahapatra, Managing Director, WBCO, informed that Government had already given 365 acres of land for a jute park in Haringhata to West Bengal Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation.
Five-year jute technology mission will be initiated from September, 27 informed Jute Commissioner, S Majumdar.
Around 22 percent growth has been witnessed in the production of jute related products.
West Bengal is the biggest contributor of raw jute in the country producing 73 percent of total production.
