Eco Jute Processing, a new jute mill recently commenced its operations at Dhelapir in Syedpur Upazila in the district.
Local MP IAM Saklain remained present at the occasion in the capacity of the chief guest. Also, amongst others who attended the inaugural function were, Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari Zillur Rahman, TNO of Syedpur Sabina Alam, Nilphamari Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Abdul Wahed Sarkar and National Bank official Md Azim Uddin.
As divulged by sources, Tk 500 million for setting up the mill were funded by the Syedpur branch of National Bank by way of loan. The mill now provides employment to over 500 persons.
At present, the mill will currently manufacture gunny bags and ropes.
