In the first eight months 2006, Vietnam's footwear exports turnover to Taiwanese market saw a year-on–year rise of 25.25 percent by domestic manufacturers, but 24 percent down from foreign–invested enterprises, industrial sources said.

Compared to the first eight months 2005, exports turnover of the foreign – invested enterprises totaled just $18.97 million, contrary to sharp growth of 25.25 percent at the domestic partners who earned $4.91 million revenue.

Among goods exporting Taiwan of the domestic manufacturers, metal–headed shoes made strongest growth, but down–trend was seen at many goods of tennis shoes, basketball shoes, plastic sports shoes, knitting–capped shoes and sandals.

Major rival of Vietnamese exporters in Taiwan are from China; however, these traders would have more competition over Chinese by exporting there the high–quality goods with various models and styles, industrial experts advised.
