Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) based Saigon Jewelry sales reached record heights with 1.69 million taels (1.25 oz each) of gold this year, earning highest ever annual turnover of around US $1 billion or VND16.15 trillion.
Gold has emerged as a new fashion statement and with Christmas approaching the demand is expected to rise further.
Tael price hiked to VND12.32 million ($766.1) in HCMC, Danang and Can Tho while in Hanoi the rate stands at around VND12.34 million.
