Urban Outfitters posts Q4 FY20 net sales of $4 billion

Urban Outfitters, US based leading lifestyle products and services company, posted 3.6 per cent rise in net sales to $1.17 billion in the fourth quarter (Q4) FY20 that ended on January 31, 2020 compared to $1.12 billion in same quarter last year. For complete FY20 net sales grew 0.8 per cent to $4.0 billion compared to $3.9 billion in FY19. 
 
The company reported comparable retail segment net sales in Q4 FY20 increased 4 per cent, driven by growth in the digital channel, partially offset by negative retail store sales. By brand, comparable retail segment net sales increased 9 per cent at Free People, 6 per cent at the Anthropologie Group and were flat at Urban Outfitters, as Urban Outfitters reported. Total retail segment net sales in the quarter increased 4 per cent. Wholesale segment net sales decreased 10 per cent reportedly due to a 12 per cent decrease at Free People.
 
Comparable retail segment net sales for complete fiscal 2020 increased 1 per cent, reportedly driven by growth in the digital channel, partially offset by negative retail store sales. Total retail segment net sales in FY20 increased 1 per cent. Wholesale segment net sales decreased 6 per cent due to an 8 per cent decrease at Free People, as company stated.
 
For the quarter, adjusted net income of $20 million. In full FY20, the company reported net income stood at $168 million.
 
Selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expenses in the quarter increased by $23.0 million, or 8.9 per cent compared to the prior year. SG&A expenses increased by $28.6 million, or 3.0 per cent in full FY20.
