The dress clips were considered the ultimate fashion accessory from the late 1920s through the 1950s.

A Chicago-based Eisenberg & Sons, manufacturer of exclusive women's apparel used Austrian crystal clips and brooches to adorn the dresses made by them.

When customers commenced stealing them, the company discontinued the dress line and produced only dress clips and jewelry.

Most vintage jewelry collectors are familiar with the highly sought-after Eisenberg brooches.

Clips were made from a variety of materials including rhinestones, and sterling silver.

Less expensive metals such as rhodium, spelter, pot metal, even Bakelite and celluloid made an appearance.

During the 1940s, Eisenberg used unique stone color combinations such as pink and purple, pink and turquoise, and aqua and ice blue.

The trademark 'Trifari' was used on all jewelry after December 1937 and some pieces before this date may only have a patent number.

Collectors often display brooches in showcases.
