After years of aggressive campaign, renowned fashion photographer Adi Barkan has finally seen a ray of hope when nearly 60 percent of the advertising agencies of Israel agreed to not recruit overly thin models.
All these companies will only hire models who successfully pass their Body Mass Index (BMI) tests.
This move clearly echoed the ban of overly thin models at Madrid Fashion Week.
Companies are expected to sign up girls with BMI not less than 18 with a grace period for underweight models.
Barkan says that in the race to become the US, Israeli teenagers are pressurizing themselves to get that impossibly unrealistic figure.
