Vietnam's fashion industry takes strides to match up in the international fashion arena.

Recently a series of fashion shows took place in European, Asian and American countries. With this the world paid attention and appreciated Vietnam's traditional costumes like long dress ao dai, stylised loose-fitting blouses ao ba ba or four-panel traditional tunics ao tu than.

Designs on local made silk, multi-coloured weavings and hand-made embroideries were highly praised at cultural events, like the "Vietnamese Culture Week" in Japan and Belgium, the "Vietnamese Culture Month" in Italy and the "Viet Nam Day" in the US.

Vietnam's top designer Minh Hanh, with her hand made costumes has carved a niche in the international market.

France has acknowledged her contribution in the France-Vietnam cooperation in the area of fashion and conferred her title "Knight of Art and Literacy". Hanh made a guest appearance on Italian TV show Alle Felde Del Kilimarigiaro.
