Last year witnessed at least four fashion weeks that helped domestic designers make an impact on international stage.
Indian fashion industry was at its best through out the year. Every one from designers to exporters, models, sponsors and the organizers reaped fruits of their hard work.
In 2006, number of participants rose to 115 compared to 67 in 2005. Number of models doing catwalk shoot up from 48 in 2005 to 100 in 2006. The proportion of show also increased to about 70 from 35 in 2005.
With increase in fashion week, more and more innovative designs are introduced and have given exposure to participants of the show.
This exposure has helped to increase profits by making international buyers to purchase domestic designs.
Experts estimate a steady growth for fashion industry of more than 20 percent per annum.
Even Fashion Design Council of India's (FDCI) relation with international fashion councils in France, Italy and New Zealand would also benefit industry in times to come.
