A number of sportswear companies are eyeing the Rugby World Cup in France, which will start on Friday September 7, 2007 to bring in the fashion for the fans.
The New Zealand-based Canterbury International Ltd the world's leading manufacturer of on-field rugby wear, after their success in Italy, Germany and Japan, is now seeking distributors in France to launch an off field collection before the world cup.
In France, the Eden Park dominated the off-field rugby shirt and leisure market, is trading in the name of privately-held Cinq Huitiemes, and 15 Serge Blanco.
Nike Inc. is already sponsoring for France and England, Reebok International Limited, a subsidiary of Adidas AG is backing Wales, Italian sportswear maker Kappa, a unit of Basic Net SpA is supporting Italy.
Puma AG has also entered into the competition for the first time. The company is sponsoring Samoa Island and has launched a Pacific-island line for off-field leisurewear collection of 2007.
