Budapest is growing fashion industry and many designers have ventured into foreign markets.
Association of First Hungarian Clothing Designers (EMDSz) was established in December 2006 has already achieved numerous successes.
The ten founding designers, including Anita Benes (Daalarna), Andor Kovács, Anikó Németh (Manier), Beatrix Joó (Sentiments), Barbara Léber, Brigitta Sziráczky, Dóra Konsánszky, Éva Halász (Orlando Collection), Lucia S Hegyi (Luan by Lucia) and Tamás Király, started drafting plans and path for this organization almost five years ago.
The group aims to support potential and upcoming designers and strives to provide them with educational and institutional base.
In a three day fashion show, the group introduced five young and imminent designers, of which two attracted most attention.
Both designers happen to be having foreign origins. Luu Anh Tuan, is a Vietnamese man who has been living in Budapest for the past 17 years, and Isky Fisharkové, a young Czech woman, runs a Prague-based company, MaxFred.
Isky showcased almost exclusively men's fashion while Anh Tuan's innovative blend of fabrics and materials inspired all.
