Grant culture tax breaks for fashion sector, propose NDP

NDP Culture Critic Cheri Di Novo revealed, at a recently held seminar, her plan to propose an amendment which will focus on fashion industry.
If approved, fashion will be seen as part of culture alongside music and art, allowing tax breaks and grants for the designers.
She said that fashion talents need to be encouraged so as to raise Toronto to the level of Milan.
Fashion Design Council of Canada applauded Di Novo and expressed complete support.
However, several experts believe that this is a farfetched idea for a country where fashion opportunities are small.
