Call it abstract fashion, but this one is bound to take you by surprise. Next year, catwalks in New York and Rome fashion shows will see models draped in silk clothes painted by elephants in Thailand!
These elephants, who have secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for their rare skill, are taught to paint abstract patterns on cloth at camps in Thailand.
According to Anchalee Kulmaphichit, Director of Maetaman elephant camp in northern province of Chiang Mai, Thai designers make clothes, pillow covers, bags and scarves from silk cloth painted by animals.
Garments sewn from elephant-painted cloth have become a rage in the world of international fashion. Anchalee added that on an average, one elephant paints 10 meters of silk cloth everyday.
